As Chief Administrative Officer for Brian Center, it is a pleasure to be a part of this family here and to help meet the needs of the community of Fincastle, Virginia and Botetourt County. I received my Bachelor of Science in Human Services and my Master of Science in Health Aspects of the Elderly, along with my Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, also known as Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. At Virginia Tech, I became a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Eti Pi chapter and the Sigma Phi Omega honor society in Gerontology. After college, I went on to achieve my licensure in Virginia and North Carolina as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. My professional memberships include The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA), The Virginia Health Care Association(VHCA) and the Geriatric Planning Committee with the VHCA. I bring several years of experience in long term care to the Brian Center and a passion for caring for the elderly. I agree with and fully support the core values of Kissito Healthcare and the Brian Center, which are to care for you or your loved one with Integrity, Passion, Excellence and Respect.
I was born in Princeton, WV and raised in Salem, VA. I graduated from Salem High School in 2000 and from Roanoke College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My previous employment includes child care and Emergency Medical Technician. I was a volunteer EMT for 6 years prior to moving to Alleghany County. I moved to Alleghany County in 2006. I began working at the Springs Nursing Center in June 2006 and became the Marketing Director for The Brian Center and The Springs in August 2006. In January 2008 I left for Texas to begin my Administrator in Training and completed the training in June 2008 while accepting my first assignment as Assistant Administrator for Brian Center- Fincastle. I married my wonderful husband, Mark, in June 2007 and we live in Covington, VA. I am a member of the Covington-Hot Springs Rotary Club, Covington Bible Church, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my chocolate lab, Sophie, and my kitties Jazmine and Alamo (who I adopted while in Texas J). I enjoy reading, travelling, shopping, fishing, and four-wheeling.
As the Regional Director of Marketing and Business Development my responsibilities include working with the community, physicians, and hospitals to keep everyone informed of what we have to offer at each facility. I visit our patients and potential patients in the hospitals and work with the hospital social worker to make sure we can meet the needs of each one and to ensure a safe transition to the facility. I have been working in Healthcare since 2004 and was first concerned about how I would like working with the elderly population; however; I quickly learned how rewarding it is to work with a population who have been forgotten by many. I have found my passion in this field. Outside of work, I like to read, garden, travel, snow ski, and spend time with my husband Jason and our cat Picaboo. Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
My role here at the Brian Center is to serve you, to explain and manage billing to Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance carriers and to assist those who are privately paying for care. Insurance and the Medicare/Medicaid system are highly regulated industries which is often difficult to understand. Please do not hesitate to express your questions or concerns, we are your partner in health care and our focus is caring for you and your loved one in every way.
I enjoy being part of the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation family. My responsibilities include Human Resources, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Administrative Assistant. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, and reading. I have two daughters, Dominique and Jaden, and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 6 years.
I assist in the admission process for our residents, and I really enjoy working with new residents and their families. I focus on developing good and trusting rapports with residents and their families, so that we can all work together to help the resident adjust to their new surroundings. I am a good listener, and I really understand how difficult it is to place a loved one in a nursing and rehabilitation center; I am here to make sure the transition is a smooth as possible. I began working at The Brian Center in 2006, following 20 years of experience in the social work field, in the roles Director of Social Services, and Director of Admissions, and I have managed assisted living facilities in Richmond and Louisa, Va. I truly enjoy working at the Brian Center; with only 60 beds, this home runs and feels like a family. I love that our team works well together and everyone is always eager to help a team member. It truly makes me happy when a resident smiles and states she is happy and that the staff is like an extended family for her. This certainly makes our hard work worthwhile! When not at work, I enjoy yoga, crocheting and cooking, and I am an avid reader. I have three daughters, one in New Jersey, and two in Maine. I just recently became a grandma! I have a beautiful granddaughter whom I visit whenever I can.

I have taken care of nursing home patients and served as medical director at multiple facilities for over 25 years. Residents in long term care have special needs and deserve special care. Very few physicians are willing to see residents in the long term care community, and medical care is often provided remotely by fax or phone. The physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants of my independent practice, Long Term Care Medical Associates, are committed to taking care of patients when and where it is needed – at the facility where they live. We are experienced in primary care as well as long term care, providing medical care to geriatric and rehabilitation patients in multiple facilities. We are committed to providing the most appropriate, high quality compassionate medical care for every patient. At the same time we are committed to working with each facility to create the appropriate environment for residents and staff. I graduated from the University of Maryland, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and the Family Practice Residency Program at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. I am a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, and I am certified by the American Medical Directors Association as a Medical Director for Long Term Care. I appreciate working with nursing and administrative staffs at homes like The Brian Center that are sincerely trying to improve the quality of care and the quality of living for all the patients and residents. My wife Betty and I have four grown children. When not working, we enjoy boating and quiet time at nearby Smith Mountain Lake.
